Each year, hundreds of teenagers in the Coastal Bend Area defy all odds to attend high school and graduate. Their high school journey towards graduation is one of tremendous struggle. Some of the challenges they face are being homeless, alarming dropout rates, abusive homes, and poverty. Many of them are the first in their families to become high school graduates. This year, an estimated 400 graduating seniors throughout the Coastal Bend Area will not "Walk the Stage" to celebrate this amazing achievement, not because of failure, but simply because they lack the $50 to purchase the required cap and gown.
